Lets eat...
If you're hungry for pizza at any time of
the day, Sorrento's is the place to be. They
serve up surprisingly good pizza, small
sandwiches and desserts. They also have a
nice antipasto bar. Quite a few evenings I
stopped by to grab some olives and bread sticks
for the room.
The Grande Dinning Room...
Dinner in the main dining room is always
a nice way to wind down your day. The
whole family is usually there, the food is
great and the service is outstanding. I'm
not going to go through all the food, the
pictures speak for themselves, but i will
say the chicken cordon bleu, right center
above, was amazing. The salmon and
shrimp also stood out. Lobster night is
always a blast too...all you can eat. I think
most of us had two tails apiece..along
with prime rib. One thing you will never
be on a cruise ship is hungry. Below are
the desserts. My favorites were the
Royal Cheesecake and the Grand Marnier
Souffle. Dawn's favorite was the warm,
melting cookie thing...top right below. She
liked it so much they made it for her
again the next day.
Looks like Yosh is having the spinach and
ricotta ravioli.
The Park Cafe is located in the central
park area of the ship. It's a good spot
to grab a quick bite to eat and avoid the
crowds. Our room was on the same deck
so we were there often. They have a nice
salad bar, good selections of sandwiches
and a soup of the day. What really stands
out here is the hand cut roast beef Kummelweck
sandwich It's very tasty...my Dad especially liked
it. The Park Cafe also serves a limited
breakfast of sandwiches and pastries.
This is the Tres Quesos quesadillas. It
has melted Monterey Jack, queso fresco
and Chihuahua cheeses, scallions and a
pinch of cumin.
Sabor Taqueria is the Mexican restaurant
on board. It's an open air restaurant in the
Boardwalk area of the ship. I wasn't
expecting much but we were all pleasantly
surprised. The calamari was outstanding as
was the made to order guacamole. The
spicy beef empanadas and bacon wrapped,
chicken stuffed jalapenos were also tasty.
The desserts are also worth trying. We had
the Mexican Cinnamon Churros and the
Banana and Chocolate Chimichangas. Come
with an appetite, the portions are big.
Tasty table side guacamole...
These are cupcake sundaes from the
Ice Cream Parlor in the boardwalk
area of the ship. You pick out a cupcake,
the put it in the bottom of the cup and
build your sundae on top. They were good
but super sweet. These aren't included with
your cruise fare. I think they are around
five bucks.
Making sushi isn't as difficult as you think.
The Japanese restaurant Izumi offered sushi
making classes on sea days. We had to give
it a try. For $35 you get instructed by a sushi
chef on how to make three different rolls. The rolls are, spicy tuna, California and tempura shrimp. When you finish you get to eat
what you created. It's actually a pretty good
deal...I left stuffed. At the end everyone is
presented with a certificate of completion. It's
really fun if you ever get the chance.
Breakfast options abound on the ship.
If you're in the mood for a quiet, leisurely
breakfast head for the main dinning
room. Pictured above. For a quick bite
to eat with tons of options head for the
buffet. Pictured below. Johnny Rockets
cooks up a good diner style breakfast, and
if you're feeling lazy...just order room service.
Room services breakfast. Not too bad if
you're feeling lazy or have an early port.

Giovanni's Table was a real treat. Dawn and
I went along with my parents and Dawn's
friend Melissa. It's not included with your
cruise fare so it's an extra charge of $25
per person. It's worth it though. The food
was excellent across the board. I had the
braised veal ossobuco. It was tender and
delicious. A few other things that stood out
were the grilled octopus, the caprese salad
and the tuna. For dessert the Tiramisu
Classico was tasty. Good food and good
company made for a great evening.

If was fun having a table all to ourselves.
Our awesome servers...Marcel and Iwayan.
The quality of food and the high level of service really
stood out on this cruise. And lets be honest, all that food
available at all hours is a big part of why cruises
are so popular. Oasis of the Seas does it right. From the dinning room to the Park Cafe. It really is amazing
they are able to feed so many people & keep the
quality high across the board. I hope they keep it
up. We already have our next cruise booked on
Symphony of the Seas for March 2020. We heard
one of our servers, Iwayn, was transferring there
to be a head waiter. I hope we can request him.
That's it for now...next up, precruise Disney World.

For me the best was the salmon and mashed potatoes, and creme brûlée , in the main dining room. I also loved the Caesar salad at Park Cafe. I actually didn’t eat anything that wasn’t really good. Pair that with the excellent service and it was amazing. I can’t imagine how they do it. We’re taking the galley tour on the next cruise. Should be interesting.
We definitely ate well!
